The Bhutanese Community of Greater Cleveland (BCGC) is a community-centric non-profit organization that was established in 2016 and officially received its 501(c)(3) status in 2017 . This organization is devoted to supporting newly resettled Bhutanese refugees in the Greater Cleveland area, as well as Bhutanese Americans who have been residing in the city for several years. We are a vibrant, welcoming, and highly diverse community, encompassing a variety of religions, languages, experiences, and cultural backgrounds.

While the BCGC has not yet directly provided resettlement or post-resettlement services, it has played a significant role in assisting needy families and individuals across multiple sectors. The organization has acted as a bridge between the Bhutanese community and the Cuyahoga County Office of Job and Family Services, as well as other social service agencies, local schools, and hospitals. The BCGC is committed to fostering healthy relationships with other communities through cultural exchanges, language learning, and the establishment of partnerships.

As esteemed Bhutanese-American citizens, we endeavor to integrate into the broader cultural fabric of Greater Cleveland, the state of Ohio, and the United States, all while preserving our cultural heritage, language, and traditions.

It is estimated that approximately 15,000 Nepali-speaking Bhutanese individuals have made their homes in the Greater Cleveland area through both primary and secondary migration since 2008. These former refugees have found a welcoming environment in Cleveland, Ohio, where they can pursue the opportunities and freedoms that America provides. They are dedicated to working diligently, contributing to the community, striving for affordable housing, attaining college degrees, and building a more prosperous future for themselves and their families. Additionally, they benefit from being part of an expanding and supportive Bhutanese-American community, with the Bhutanese Community of Greater Cleveland (BCGC) serving as a reliable foundation.
